About a third of the French grapes thrive here and it creates some of the best and highest quality wines in France. Domaine de Belle Mare is located in Mèze, southwest of the famous seaside resort of Sète. The winery is located on the estuary Etang de Thau. Vines for varietal wines and cuvées are grown on a total of 68 hectares. The specialty of Domaine de Belle Mare, however, is a fine white wine made from the indigenous grape variety called Picpul de Pinet. It impresses with its subtle fruit and flower aromas. Of course, the Domaine also vinifies worldwide common grape varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay as well as the red wine varieties Merlot and Syrah with great skill and masterly ability.

Domaine de Belle Mare - Languedoc wines at their best

No more than six people work hand in hand at Domaine de Belle Mare. The Domaine's highly motivated winemakers possess great craftsmanship. Widespread  grape varieties are brought together here with exotic vines to produce typical Languedoc wines with that certain something. Chardonnay, for example, is blended with Viognier and Roussanne. The result is Le Rivage Blanc with aromas of honey, apricots and dried fruit. The red wines of Domaine de Belle Mare are also special. Le Rivage Rouge, for example, is a blend of Shiraz, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. It has a dark purple color and intense aromas of red berries and fruits, spices, cocoa and caramel.

And this despite the fact that a lot of work is done by hand on the vineyards and in the winery. The highest priority here is nature, which is the philosophy of the small team. The approach of the winemakers at Domaine de Belle Mare is as traditional as it is experimental, and they always make sure that their work is done in harmony with nature. The vineyards stretch idyllically on a lagoon on the shores of the Etang de Thau. Here in the south of France, the vines get particularly much sun.
