The manor house of the Di Lenardo family and the stately cedars next to the prestigious entrance create an impression of generosity, permanence and Mediterranean charm.
Progress in Friuli - Di Lenardo
Already since the beginning of the 19th century, the family Di Lenardo has been producing wine in the village of Ontagnano near Udine. Today, 38 hectares of their own vineyards belong to the winery and they process only their own grapes.
The estate of the moon
In the last 20 years, the winery has undergone a progressive transformation. The vineyards have been replanted with carefully selected clones, yields are strictly limited, and the cellar is equipped with the latest technology. Most importantly, Massimo di Lenardo is highly motivated to produce outstanding wines full of character. He demonstrates that Grave del Friuli produces wines that are in no way inferior to the beauty of the gorgeous landscape. Massimo likes to joke that their wines come from the moon, because although they come from the Friuli DOC appellation, they are quite atypical of the region.
Wines that taste like themselves
One of his central themes is terroir. Each of his single-vineyard wines comes from a single vineyard site that has the best conditions for the particular grape variety. His wines reflect the terroir excellently. According to his philosophy, the wines should taste nicely fruity and have a nice acidity, the maturation in oak barrels should not mask the basic aromas of the wines.
Di Lenardo - Something for everyone
The portfolio today includes a selection of:
seven white wines
five reds
two rosés
two sparkling wines
one dessert wine
Even though di Leonardo is on a successful path, it does not stand still and is constantly trying to improve. The latest technical advance of the house was the installation of a solar system to run the cellar self-sufficiently and thus to preserve nature another piece.
