The Cuvée Gaudenz from Knipser comes into the glass with bright crimson and ruby reflections. The first nose of this cuvée from Cabernet Sauvignon and Dornfelder enchants with ripe fruit notes reminiscent of blackcurrant, blackberry and other black fruits. Spicy notes of the barrique finish as well as floral nuances of lilac and violet complete the bouquet of the Cuvée Gaudenz perfectly
.On the palate, the Gaudenz von Knipser proves to be a perfect mixture of strength and elegance. The ideal alternative to Pinot Noir is wonderfully aromatic and full-bodied. Harmonious tannins and a pleasantly dry mouthfeel make these Palatinate cuvée an excellent food companion, but also makes a great figure on its
own.Vinification of the Cuvée Gaudenz by Knipser
This classic from the red wine portfolio of Knipser is vinified from Cabernet Sauvignon and Dornfelder. After harvesting, mashing and fermentation, the Gaudenz matures for a full 18 months in used barriques.
The Cuvée Gaudenz is a tribute to Gaudenz Knipser, a city architect and councillor in the South Tyrolean city of Merano in the 16th century. From this time in South Tyrol also comes the family coat of arms of the Knipsers, which still today bears the year of appointment - 1582 - and was awarded by Archduke Ferdinand in Innsbruck.
