The vineyards of Codice Citra extend over 6000 hectares. They are spread over the entire province of Chieti. Most of the vines grow near the Majella, the Gran Sasso and along the Adriatic coast. The region is particularly famous for the DOC Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, this zone extends through all four provinces of Abruzzo, but mainly in Chieti. Rosso and Cerasuolo are made from Montepulciano (85 - 100%), as well as other authorized red varieties.
However, Citra is not only a winery, but also a central consulting facility. Agricultural engineers and oenologists assist the winegrowers in the planting and cultivation of the vineyards. Since the oenologist Romeo Taraborelli was recruited as plant manager, the qualities have once again been significantly improved. The Montepulciano wines are rather closed in the youth, but after a time of storage and maturation you get appropriate fullness and a beautiful harmony.
