Cipresso is a brand of Enoselezione Vini d'Italia, a project started by a Roman oenologist in 1989. Instead of producing wines at a specific estate, they look for partners throughout Italy with whom they can produce great wines.
Cipresso Winery - A Special Selection from Italy
Thus one needed until today several wine lines on the market, for example the Ceppaia wines from the Toskana, or evenly also Cipresso or Palazzo Malgara. Meanwhile Enoselezione Vini d'Italia is part of the winery Castelfeder in South Tyrol, which is run by the family Giovanett .
The terroir of the Cipresso wines
Cipresso wines come exclusively from Abruzzo, more precisely from the DOCG region around Montepulciano, with a red, a white and a rosé wine available. Abruzzo is located east of Rome, with the Apennines dominating the landscape. The climate is very diverse here:
- cool and humid at higher altitudes
- dry and hot directly on the Adriatic Sea
Viticulture is mainly practiced in the golden center, where conical hills rise and temperatures are balanced. The soils of clay are rich in limestone, which gives a typical note to the local wines.
