Château Sociando-Mallet

The history of the Sociando-Mallet estate goes back a long time. The first mention of the estate is in 1633, when the land belonged to a nobleman of Basque origin. After many changes of ownership, including the turmoil of the French Revolution, Jean Gutreau bought the estate in 1957 and developed it into a nationally known brand.

The wines of the estate regularly receive top marks from greats such as Robert Parker and, although they have lost their classification as Cru Bourgeois Exceptionel for lack of reappraisal, are secretly considered by connoisseurs to be equal in quality to Troiseme or Deuxieme Grand Cru wines.
