Château Gloria

The winery Château Gloria is one of the flagship wineries in Bordeaux and belongs to the Triaud family.

Château Gloria - a lifelong dream realized

This winery was founded one by Henri Martin and is unique. Because over several years it was built up piece by piece by buying plots of land. Most of these plots were even classified as "grands crus" in 1855. The wines of Château Gloria are known across all borders worldwide. The very careful cultivation, hand harvesting, the special vinification technique as well as the origin of the terroir contribute to this, of course also the excellent quality resulting from everything. 

Peu à peu to world fame - Château Gloria

The creation of Château Gloria was undoubtedly Henri Martin's life ' s work. Row after row of vines, plot after plot, he patiently and systematically negotiated with his friendly owners in the commune of Saint-Julien to buy these various "cru classé" plots, superbly situated on the Günzian gravel, which would eventually form Château Gloria. A real tour de force, the vineyards of Saint-Julien cover no less than 900 hectares and almost all belong to the 11 "grands crus classes" of the appellation.

A cru classé with a twinkle in its eye

Henri Martin 's dream was realized in the 1970s with a 44-hectare vineyard. This estate consisted mainly of "cru classé" sites. Some of them are even among the most prestigious of the already laurel-covered region. In the meantime, 6 hectares have been added. Today, Château Gloria is so successful that it celebrates an annual production of over 220,000 bottles. But why is Château Gloria not a "cru classé"? The answer is simple: at the time of the 1855 classification, Château Gloria simply did not exist. The Saint-Julien estate nevertheless lives up to its name, which alludes to fame, success and faith: the faith of a man of our time who has managed to "invent" a new "cru" and help it reach the highest level of recognition.
