In Bordeaux there are many famous wineries, which are highly awarded. One of them is Château Chasse-Spleen, an estate of the class Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel. The estate has a 250-year history, and is historically linked to Château Poujeaux, another famous winery in Moulis.
Gravelly sand soils characterize the terroir here, which is considered the best in the appellation. The grape varieties typical of the region Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Sauvignon Blanc are grown here. Fermentation takes place in concrete and stainless steel vats, maolactic fermentation and aging in barriques, 40% of which are renewed every year.
Besides the main wine, a second and third wine are also produced. Qualitatively, the wines are considered competitive with the Grand Cru Classé wines.
