More information about Chafandin - Viñas del Jaro

The barrel-aged Chafandin from the wine-growing region of Castile - León presents itself in the glass in a dense ruby red. The first nose of the Chafandin reveals notes of plum must and blackberries. The fruity components of the bouquet are joined by notes of barrel ageing such as toasted wood, nutmeg and blueberry.

On the palate, the Chafandin from Viñas del Jaro starts off pleasantly dry, full-bodied and aromatic. There is dry and really dry. This red wine belongs to the second group, as it was bottled with just 1.6 g of residual sugar. This fleshy and dense red wine is powerful and complex on the palate. Thanks to its vital fruit acidity, Chafandin is exceptionally fresh and lively on the palate. On the finish, this very storable red wine from the Castile - León wine-growing region impresses with its considerable length. There are again hints of blackberry and plum jam.

Vinification of Viñas del Jaro Chafandin

This red wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, namely Tempranillo. Only first-class grapes were harvested for this wonderfully powerful single-varietal wine from Viñas del Jaro. After being harvested by hand, the grapes are immediately taken to the winery. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place in small oak barrels at controlled temperatures. Vinification is followed by ageing for 21 months in French oak barrels.

Wine recommendation for the Chafandin from Viñas del Jaro

This Spanish red wine is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15 - 18°C. It is the perfect accompaniment to spicy curries with lamb, vegetable couscous with beef meatballs or boeuf bourguignon.
