Cellar Selection Pinot Noir 2018 - Villa Maria
More information

The Cellar Selection Pinot Noir from Villa Maria is vinified from selected Pinot Noir grapes from the New Zealand wine region of Marlborough.

In the glass, this organic red wine shines in a shiny cherry red with ruby red highlights. This New Zealand red wine has a fruity, fine bouquet of spices, plums and cherries with hints of red forest berries. On the palate, this red wine has an aromatic-multilayered taste with a medium body, a perfect balance of elegant, fresh acidity as well as fine-grained tannin and a concentrated, expressive fruit. The reverberation is sustainable and long with fruity notes of blueberries, blackcurrants and ripe plums.

Vinification of the Pinot Noir Cellar Selection Villa Maria

The Pinot Noir grapes are picked by hand in lots and immediately brought to the wine cellar of Villa Maria. There, the harvested material is completely destemmed and cold mashed for 10 days. The mash is then fermented in stainless steel tanks. The pomace is pressed down four times a day. After the fermentation process has been completed, the mash is gently pressed and placed in French oak barriques (18% of which are new wood) for maturity.

Food recommendation for Villa Maria Pinot Noir Cellar Selection

This dry red wine from New Zealand is best enjoyed with risotto with wild mushrooms, moussaka, braised rabbit, duck, wild ragout or spicy lamb dishes.
