The Celeste Tempranillo Reserva by Miguel Torres is a fascinating, expressive red wine from the DO Ribera del Duero region. Only Tempranillo grapes are used for vinification.
In the glass, this wine shines in a rich garnet red with cherry-red reflections. The bouquet convinces the nose with an aromatic, intense and fruity personality. Notes of ripened wild berries, blackberry jam and ripe plums are revealed. The fruity aroma is accompanied by subtle notes of spice and roast - thanks to the oak maturity.
On the palate there is a velvety soft, fleshy and full-bodied texture, which harmonizes wonderfully with the aromas of the nose and the firm yet gentle tannins. This Spanish red wine has a wonderful balance between the fullness of the fruit, tannin, lively acidity and delicate spicy wood note - rounded off by a wonderfully long finish.
Vinification of Miguel Torres Celeste Reserva Tempranillo
The grapes are harvested at optimum ripeness and immediately brought to the Torres winery in Fompedraza. First, the harvested material is cold mashed for 7 days and then fermented for one week at a temperature of 25-30 °C in a controlled manner in a stainless steel tank. The total maceration period for this wine is 2-3 weeks before the wine is withdrawn and for the biological acid degradation is for 2 months on the fine yeast storage in new oak barrels.
A reserve must mature for at least 36 months. First, the cellar master of Miguel Torres puts the wine for 15 months in American and French oak barrels (50% new wood). Finally, this wine rests on the bottle for at least 21 months.
Food recommendation for the Celeste Reserva by Miguel Torres
Enjoy this dry red wine from Spain with tender roast beef in a Mediterranean herbal cloak, steaks from the grill, spicy dishes with pumpkin and chickpeas. But this wine is also a treat for matured soft cheese.
