More information about Carrubo Primitivo di Manduria DOC - Tormaresca (Antinori)

The barrel-aged Carrubo Primitivo di Manduria from the wine-growing region of Apulia reveals itself in the glass in a dense ruby red. With a little swirl, the red wine glass reveals a charming garnet-red hue at the edges. After the first swirl, this red wine reveals a high density and fullness, which is reflected in strong stained glass windows at the edge of the glass. In the glass, this red wine from Tormaresca (Antinori) shows aromas of sour cherries and plums, complemented by tobacco and bitter almond. The Tormaresca (Antinori) Carrubo Primitivo di Manduria presents itself to the wine connoisseur as wonderfully dry. This red wine is never coarse or austere, but round and smooth. This velvety red wine is full-bodied and multi-layered on the palate. On the finish, this mature wine from the Apulia wine-growing region impresses with its considerable length. Once again, there are hints of plum and sour cherry.

Vinification of the Tormaresca (Antinori) Carrubo Primitivo di Manduria

The powerful Carrubo Primitivo di Manduria from Italy is a single-varietal wine made from the Primitivo grape variety. The Carrubo Primitivo di Manduria is an Old World wine through and through, as this Italian wine exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underlines the success of wines from the Old World. After being harvested by hand, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place in large oak barrels at controlled temperatures. Once fermentation is complete, the powerful Carrubo Primitivo di Manduria is aged for 36 months in oak barrels. The ageing in wooden barrels is followed by a long maturation in the bottle, which makes this red wine even more complex.

Dining recommendations for the Carrubo Primitivo di Manduria from Tormaresca (Antinori)

This red wine from Italy is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15 - 18°C. It is the perfect accompaniment to vegetable couscous with beef meatballs, baked sheep's cheese parcels or stuffed peppers.
