More information about Carmes de Rieussec Sauternes AOC - Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite)

Carmes de Rieussec Sauternes from the Bordeaux wine-growing region, aged in barrel, reveals a dense pale yellow color in the glass. The color of this white wine also shows golden yellow reflections in the center. After the first swirl, this white wine reveals a high viscosity, which shows in church windows at the edge of the glass. Poured into a white wine glass, this Old World white wine presents delightfully expressive aromas of grapefruit and lemon, rounded out by lime contributed by barrel aging.

On the palate, the Carmes de Rieussec Sauternes from Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) starts wonderfully dry, grippy and aromatic. On the tongue, this punchy white wine is characterized by an incredibly crisp texture. In the finish, this matured white wine from the wine-growing region of Bordeaux finally inspires with considerable length. Again, hints of lemon and grapefruit appear. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the soils dominated by clay and gravel are added.

Vinification of the Carmes de Rieussec Sauternes from Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite)

The powerful Carmes de Rieussec Sauternes from France is a blend pressed from Muscadelle, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon grapes. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Bordeaux. The vines here dig their roots deep into soils of clay and gravel. Of course, the Carmes de Rieussec Sauternes is also determined by climate and viticultural style Sauternes. This French wine can be described in the best sense of the word as an Old World wine that presents itself in an extraordinarily impressive way. When perfectly ripe, the grapes for Carmes de Rieussec Sauternes are harvested exclusively by hand without the use of coarse and less selective grape harvesters. After the harvest, the grapes are immediately sent to the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in small wood at controlled temperatures. After the completion of fermentation, the powerful Carmes de Rieussec Sauternes is aged for another 18 months in oak barriques.

Food pairing for the Carmes de Rieussec Sauternes from Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite)

Drink this white wine from France ideally well chilled at 8 - 10°C as an accompanying wine to spaghetti with yogurt-mint pesto, Jamaican chicken drumsticks with pineapple salad or fruity endive.
