Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2014 - Tenuta il Poggione
Prices incl. VAT plus shipping costs
Brunello di Montalcino DOCG by Tenuta il Poggione from the Italian wine-growing region of Tuscany is an excellent, seductive and wonderfully complex red wine, made exclusively from Sangiovese grapes.
This wine shines in the glass in a dense ruby red with purple highlights. On the nose this red wine presents itself very intense, long lasting, with concentrated fruity notes of dark and red berries - especially blackberry and raspberry come to the fore - ripe sour cherries and finely underlaid by a spicy note with some tobacco. On the palate this Italian red wine starts very elegant, warm, balanced, with velvety soft tannins and a surprisingly fresh note. The tannins are very well integrated into the complex body and are accompanied by a balanced acidity structure. The finale offers a wonderful, persistent length.
This Brunello di Montalcino from Tenuta Il Poggione is convincing all along the line with its complex, great character and has a very good ageing potential.
Vinification of the Tenuta il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino
Brunello is the king of wines in Montalcino. This red wine is made exclusively from Sangiovese grapes from the oldest vineyards of the estate. After a gentle, temperature-controlled fermentation, Tenuta Il Poggione's Brunello di Montalcino is aged for 30 months in 30 hl and 50 hl French oak barrels, followed by two years of bottle ageing before this royal Italian red wine is released on the market.
