in 1776 the winery Boekenhoutskloof was founded and is picturesquely situated in the far corner of the Franschhoek Valley.
A little history from the Franschhoek Valley
The name of the winery translates as "Gorge of Boekenhout". Boekenhout is beech native to South Africa and is highly prized in furniture making.
in 1997, Boekenhoutskloof was completely restored and the vineyards were replanted with Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Grenache, Semillon and Viognier.
The man behind Boekenhoutskloof wines
Marc Kent is managing partner, technical director and driving force behind Boekenhoutskloof. He is known for his unconventional approaches and willingness to experiment without losing quality at all levels and in every detail. In addition, Marc Kent is a board member of the Franschhoek Wine Valley Tourism Association and has chaired the Vignerons de Franschhoek on several occasions.
