Bodegas El Meson

Bodegas El Meson is a wine producer in Rioja dedicated exclusively to the Tempranillo grape, typical of the region. A long barrel aging gives the El Meson wines the classic touch of Rioja. Whole 10000 barrels are stored in the cellar of the bodega. Bodegas El Meson is part of the Barón de Ley group, which is responsible for many Rioja wines.

Rioja is located in the north of Spain on the Ebro River and is one of Spain's most famous wine regions. Tempranillo makes up the largest percentage of any grape variety, accounting for 61% of the vineyard area. The most common soil types in the region are:

• red clay

Compared to the rest of Spain, here you will find a rainy climate with balanced warm summers and cool winters, overall continental in character. Most of the grapes are made into red wines.

Maturation and ratings

Aging in American or French oak barrels is very common in Rioja, especially for higher-quality red wines. The predicates Crianza (2 years of maturity. at least 1 year in barrel), Reserva (3 years of maturity, at least 1 year in barrel) and Gran Reserva (at least 2 years in barrel, 3 years in bottle) indicate this.
