More information

The Blecua of Viñas del Vero is an excellent, complex red wine from  the Syrah, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Garnacha grape varieties.

This wine shimmers a deep, dark garnet red with almost opaque highlights in the glass. Gradually, complex aromas of ripe blackberries, juicy plums and cherries unfold, mineral, spicy notes and hints of cigar and chocolate. On the palate, too, this variety of aromas of the nose is revealed with a dense texture of dark fruit. The minerality and spiciness is very well integrated into the powerful, supple and well-structured body. The velvety soft tannins accompany you to the elegant, long and deep finale.

This Spanish red wine has great development potential!

Vinification of Viñas del Vero Blecua

Blecua is the flagship winery of the Viñas del Vero winery in the Spanish DO Somontano wine-growing region. Under the carefully restored manor house there is a deep tuff cave, which is connected by tunnels to an underground lake. The most precious treasure of Vero winemakers is stored in this cool humidity. The Blecua is vinified on the winery with a lot of manual work and meticulous attention to detail. The goal from the beginning was to make the best wine in Spain. The quantities are tiny and old vintages have been out of print for years.

The

grape varieties used in Blecua are fermented separately in a first step and matured in French oak barrels in four different sizes. After 8 months, chief oenologist José Ferrer chooses the best barrels and marries them to his noble cuvée. This wine gets its finishing touch for a further 12 months in new barrels.

Food recommendation for Blecua

Enjoy this dry red wine cuvée from Spain with braised lamb with Mediterranean herbs, wild ragout with fresh noodles,  duck confit on yellow lentils and medium-ripened mountain cheeses.
