Roberto Anselmi graduated in 1975 and then worked in his father's winery in the Veneto Soave production area. At that time it was a pure wine production in which purchased grapes were pressed, since the family business no longer owned its own vineyards. Roberto Anselmi's dream since his youth was to reacquire the old vineyards that his grandfather had to sell during the economic crisis. Little by little, his dream came true and he reacquired the old family land and even bought additional vineyards, provided they met his qualitative requirements.

The second step was to increase the quality of the vineyards. To do this, he increased the stocking density, but at the same time reduced the amount of grapes produced per hectare. As a result, the wines of Azienda Agricola Anselmi gained in quality and are among the best in the region. His efforts to liberalize the laws governing the region's typical Soave wines were not crowned with success, so he was no longer willing to go along with the policies of the majority in the growing area and finally, in 1999, renounced to continue offering his wines as Soave DOC. Since then he has been marketing his wines as Veneto IGT.
At his side, increasingly important are now the children Tommaso in the cellar, and Lisa, who takes care of the Vermakrtung.

High quality craftsmanship and the best sites guarantee top wines

Roberto Anselmi's wine is grown on limestone and volcanic tuff. Despite the increased number of vines per hectare, Anselmi produces fewer grapes than the neighborhood estates because he thins heavily (3-4 bunches per plant). This concentrates the extract in the grapes and perfectly reflects the terroir of the growing area in the finished wine.

More important to him than the wine category are the site-specific bottlings; they have been setting benchmarks far beyond the area for decades. The production remains limited to five labels: the white wines San Vincenzo, Capitel Foscarino, Capitel Croce, I Capitelli, and as the only red the Realda.
