More information about Ashbourne Pinotage - Hamilton Russell

The elegant Ashbourne Pinotage from Hamilton Russell comes into the glass with a bright purple color. When swirling the glass, one can perceive a perfect balance in this red wine, as it stands out on the glass walls neither watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like. In the glass, this Hamilton Russell red wine presents aromas of plums and blackberries, complemented by earthiness. On the palate, Hamilton Russell's Ashbourne Pinotage opens delightfully dry, grippy and aromatic. The palate presents a wonderfully dense texture to this well-balanced red wine. In the finish, this youthful red wine from the wine-growing region of the Western Cape finally inspires with exceptional length. There are again hints of blackberry and plum.

Vinification of the Ashbourne Pinotage from Hamilton Russell

This red wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, and that is Pinotage. Only the best grapes were used for this exceptionally balanced varietal wine from Hamilton Russell. The ripening of the grapes for this Pinotage wine is influenced to a considerable extent by the climate of the growing region. In the Western Cape, the grapes thrive in a warm climate, which is reflected, among other things, in particularly well ripened grapes and a rather high must weight. After the hand harvest, the grapes are taken to the press house by the fastest route. Here they are selected and carefully milled. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging for several months on the fine lees before the wine is finally drawn into bottles.

Food recommendation for the Ashbourne Pinotage from Hamilton Russell

This South African is best enjoyed tempered at 15 - 18°C. It is perfect as an accompanying wine to lamb stew with chickpeas and dried figs, roasted calf's liver with apples, onions and balsamic vinegar sauce or duck breast with sugar snap peas.
