A wine of undisputed class, a wonderful homage full of love and respect to the most important red wine grape of Abruzzo.
The AMARANTA di Ulisse, like the other wines of Tenuta Ulisse, is remarkable for its excellent value for money.
Vinification of the Amaranta di Ulisse by Tenuta Ulisse
The grapes for this Cru Montepulciano d 'Abruzzo grow in very old vineyards on equally old vines, which have been able to dig their roots in the calcareous, fine clay soil for an average of 30-35 years. The very warm environment and low rainfall as well as strong fluctuations between day and night temperatures ensure that the grapes can ripen well, but do not lose their acidity
.After the highly selective hand-picking, a part is harvested overripe for the Amaranta, the grapes are broken up in the Tenuta Ulisse winery, mashed and the must is fermented in a temperature-controlled manner. Afterwards, the Amaranta matures for 9 to 12 months in high-quality French and American oak barriques.
The indigenous Montepulciano d 'Abruzzo grape variety has experienced a real renaissance in recent years. You don't know much about the origins of this dark grape until today. For a long time it was attributed to the Sangiovese clone group. What is certain today, however, is that this is a completely autonomous indigenous grape variety. It is grown mainly in the Abruzzo region and in the other regions of central and southern Italy. Thanks to some manufacturers and oenologists and their diligent work, the Montepulciano grape experiences a renaissance as one of the red grape varieties of the highest quality and quality.
