More information about Alte Reben Riesling halbtrocken - Weingut Knebel

The Old Vines Riesling from Weingut Knebel of Mosel reveals a bright, light yellow color in the glass. After the first swirl, one can perceive a first-class balance in this white wine, as it does not stand out watery or syrupy or liqueur-like on the walls of the glass. This single varietal German wine flatters the glass with wonderfully expressive notes of pineapple, grapefruits, peaches and lemons. These are joined by hints of other fruits.

The Alte Reben Riesling can rightly be described as exceptionally fruit-driven and velvety, as it was vinified with a pleasantly sweet flavor profile. Balanced and complex, this light white wine presents itself on the palate. Due to its lively fruit acidity, the Alte Reben Riesling presents itself impressively fresh and lively on the palate. The finale of this youthful white wine from the wine-growing region the Mosel captivates finally with good reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral notes of the slate-dominated soils.

Vinification of the Old Vines Riesling from Knebel Winery

The balanced Alte Reben Riesling from Germany is a single varietal wine, pressed from the Riesling grape variety. In Mosel, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of slate. Moreover, the grapes of this top wine from Weingut Knebel do not grow in the lowlands, but dig their roots into the subsoil in steep slopes. Steep slope cultivation ensures that even in cooler winegrowing regions with shorter growing seasons, the vines receive maximum sunlight. Alte Reben Riesling is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this German wine breathes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. After the harvest, the grapes arrive swiftly at the winery. Here they are selected and carefully broken up. Fermentation follows in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging for several months on the fine lees before the wine is finally drawn into bottles.

Food recommendation for the Alte Reben Riesling by Weingut Knebel

This white wine from Germany is best enjoyed well chilled at 8 - 10°C. It is perfect as an accompanying wine to cod with cucumber-mustard vegetables, leek tortilla or roasted trout with ginger pear.
