Winery Alexander Laible
The Alexander Laible winery is located in the picturesque village of Durbach (Baden wine country), directly at the entrance to the Durbach Valley. Alexander Laible, who wanted to follow the family tradition of viticulture that has existed since 1672, was trained as a winemaker from 1996 to 1998 and then as a viticultural technician in Weinsberg. He then gained his first professional experience in the Moselle region, where he already enjoyed real success. In 2004, he was drawn back to his homeland. He took advantage of the opportunity that came his way and in 2007 bought a piece of land on which he built his own winery. The property includes a 160-year-old mill, which he restored extensively. Today it serves as a venue for wine tastings, celebrations and the annual farm festival.
"Giving the wines all the time in the world."
Together with Eugen Schlindwein and Iris Mauch, Laible takes care of the vineyards, which he cultivates in harmony with nature. The ripe fruit is harvested by hand and gently processed without subjecting the grapes to rough mechanical stress. The wines are then allowed to mature in the winery. "Controlled idleness" is what Laible calls it - giving the wines time to develop naturally.
