More information about 1er Cru Vosne-Romanée AOC - Joseph Drouhin

The barrel-aged 1er Cru Vosne-Romanée from the Burgundy wine-growing region shows a bright light red color in the glass. After the first swirl, one can perceive a perfect balance in this red wine, as it does not stand out on the walls of the glass, neither watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like. To the nose, this Joseph Drouhin red wine shows all sorts of strawberries, sour cherries and violets. As if that wasn't already impressive, the aging in small wooden barrels adds more aromas like coffee/mocha and chocolate.

The Joseph Drouhin 1er Cru Vosne-Romanée delights with its elegantly dry flavor. It was bottled with 3.3 grams of residual sugar. This is a real quality wine, which clearly stands out from simpler qualities and so this Frenchman naturally enchants with the finest balance despite all dryness. Taste does not necessarily need residual sugar. Balanced and complex, this silky red wine presents itself on the palate. Due to its present fruit acidity, the 1er Cru Vosne-Romanée reveals itself wonderfully fresh and lively on the palate. On the finish, this youthful red wine from the Burgundy wine-growing region finally delights with considerable length. Once again, hints of violets and strawberry appear. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the soils dominated by marl and clay are added.

Vinification of the Joseph Drouhin 1er Cru Vosne-Romanée

This wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, Pinot Noir. Only impeccable grapes were used for this exceptionally balanced varietal wine from Joseph Drouhin. The grapes grow in optimal conditions in Burgundy. The vines here dig their roots deep into soils of clay, gravel and marl. Obviously, the 1er Cru Vosne-Romanée is also determined by climate and viticultural style Cote de Nuits and Haute Cotes de Nuits. This French wine can be described as an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, with an exceptionally impressive presentation. After the harvest, the grapes arrive at the winery by the fastest route. Here they are selected and carefully broken up. Fermentation then takes place in small wood at controlled temperatures. The vinification is followed by a maturation of 16 months in oak barriques.

Food recommendation for the 1er Cru Vosne-Romanée from Joseph Drouhin
